Dance Class Description
Everyone has to start somewhere, and usually that's being inexperienced and new to the craft. Maybe you've always been a fan of musicals, and you want to learn the steps to your favorite Broadway hit. You could be a huge rap fan and want to imitate the latest hip-hop music video, but regardless of your interests, you have to take a chance and begin somewhere. Our adult dance classes in Bellevue, WA, are a great place to put together the fundamentals that you'll need to impress yourself and your friends. The beginner dance classes for adults focus on helping you develop the essentials that every dancer needs. This includes posture, poise, balance, and rhythm. The importance of timing, etiquette, and movement really can't be overstated. Once you have the basics down, you'll begin to discover your own style and flare. Dancing only ever gets to be more fun, never less.
BALLET
Students will learn classical ballet technique, terminology, etiquette, and awareness of their bodies. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. This class is structured to provide the core foundation for all dance styles.
JAZZ
Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations.
STREET JAZZ
Street Jazz contains a blend of several styles of hip hop, popular street dance styles, and jazz. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to their movements.
CONTEMPORARY
Students will work to express themselves through movement to music with interpretation of emotions. Contemporary is influenced by ballet, jazz, and modern dance styles. Experimentation in contemporary will expand students’ performance opportunities, while still focusing on proper dance technique.
HIP HOP
A fun and fast-paced class, Hip Hop is a mix of street style and personal expression. Musicality and coordination is employed to help students learn to move with the rhythm. Style, attitude, culture, and funk are all a part of the hip hop foundation. Class includes upper and lower body conditioning as well as a rigorous warm-up to help prepare students for more intense movements.
MUSICAL THEATRE
This class allows students the opportunity to express emotions and convey a story through movement. Emphasis is also placed on learning performance skills, such as connecting with an audience. The use of props, staging, and theatre history will be used throughout the session. Musical theatre curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with Broadway style jazz movement.
BROADWAY TAP
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. Similar to Musical Theatre, This class allows students the opportunity to express emotions and convey a story through movement. As well as place an emphasis on performance skills, and connecting with an audience.
MIXXED FIT
A people-inspired dance fitness program that is a mix of explosive dancing and bootcamp toning. Perfect for all levels of fitness and age - we dance to all types of music, movements are repetitive and easy to follow, everything is explosive, and we focus on toning as much as dancing.
